Mar 29, 2023 · Give SoD1 the second games combat mechanics and graphics and a few other small features. SoD1 is just a way better game though in my opinion and it remains one of my favourite games even after all these years.

First game was great because of the story driven campaign. You get the survival & base building elements while also seeing the apocalypse narrative playing out. SOD 2 has far superior gameplay, but you have to be very interested in base building and creating your own narratives.

May 4, 2023 · I recently replayed both in the past year (and got all achievements for both games). You have the right idea and should start with SoD1 first. Sod1 is still good today and has a lot more story over the base game of SoD2 (which is basically just sandbox).

Jun 11, 2024 · SoD 1 has a pretty barebones story and 2 has no story at all, but has better lore. SoD 1 is pretty trash compared to SoD 2. The only advantages SoD 1 arguably has is that it has more weapons and better cars. However, in SoD 1: - the characters are way weaker than characters in SoD 2.

State of Decay 2 is going to be a full release title with no such restriction on resources. Hopefully it'll have a more fleshed out story mode. According to the story, they didn't let the others behind. They contacted all survivor communities to let them know. Jun 28, 2020 · Sod2 is better in every aspect. Only big difference in SoD1 is it has much better mod support and the game itself it just easier in terms of difficulty.

Feb 6, 2021 · Yes, it's a bummer that we can't use the map on main game (so far?), but it was definitely more like a SOD1 story-based DLC. So, all in all, I'd say SOD1 is fun and worth it - even now. But there's nowhere near the replayability (IMHO) of SOD2.

SoD1: Dark as hell ambiance-wise, starting on day 4 after the outbreak. SoD2: A more hopeful apocalypse, starting about... 18 months after the outbreak. The game is about surviving TOGETHER...
