I have a Rifle more accurate, just as reliable, and more solidly constructed than an AK. And cheaper to boot. Even with all of my Mods, the money I have in my SKS is still less than I would have spent on a decent AK.

Dec 8, 2011 · It is NOT ADAPTING AN AK MAG into an SKS you dunderhead!! It is taking the Tapco duckbill mag and making it click in and out of an SKS like an AK mag. But you are correct in that the Tapco AK mags are crap! They are beyond crap! But their SKS mags are pretty decent--even with the duckbill.

Sep 10, 2013 · I recently learned about the chain saw file mod for the rear sight. For $6, I did my SKS and my AK... the sight picture is 1,000% BETTER! Accuracy went way up too! Next is yellow fingernail polish on the rear of the front sight. Try these mods before you spend good money on problematic replacement sights! HTH, EB

Jul 24, 2012 · As tkdtim pointed out the ledge slides under the lips of the magazine. The SKS originally came with a *fixed magazine that was not removeable, so haveing the lips did not matter and also having the lips insured the *non removeable magazine would not fall out if the soldier did a field strip of the gun and then installed the non removeable magazine incorrectly.

Nov 17, 2009 · FYI--I am making a coversion kit and adapter for Tapco 20/30 round magazines so that the mag will snap into the SKS like a regular AK mag. But there will be no mods to the reciever, just an adapter that snaps into the mag-well.

Feb 23, 2012 · Yugoslavian SKS rifles were imported in the late 90's and early 2000's. Much less burn time on these rifles. And the ammo price easily doubled. Much easier to find a good yugo than a chinese. All SKS rifles are pretty much good, you have to treat them like a good rifle to keep them acting like a good rifle.

Apr 4, 2013 · With the mag guides on my AK I can swap a mag in a couple of seconds, my buddy's SKS with Tapco mags takes much longer, due to having to rock the mag into the magwell more precisely. With every firearm there are pros and cons to mods. My M91/30 has been modified to the point it is no longer a Mil-surp weapon.

Jun 14, 2010 · Inspect the gas system for wear, stop using corrosive ammo (it's not cheaper anymore), and replace the firing pin with a murray's or a chinese SKS pin. Sarco inc had SKS survivor kits with common spare parts. Get a survivor kit and then get a 2nd spare firing pin. All my yugo SKS rifles all do 2" groups at 100 yards or better.
