May 17, 2012 · Late model 1955 Russian SKS rifles, and those produced in 1956 had no year stamped on the recoil spring receiver cover. If it is a Russian, and the receiver cover isn't some random piece from another gun you are probably the owner of a "late 1955" or "1956" model Tula.

Dec 18, 2016 · Some find the term "Ghost" annoying and misleading and refer to this early serial number pattern on Chinese SKS's as "serial number only" rifles. Which is boring, IMO. The "Ghost" rifle serial range runs from around 2000 -- 213,000.

In the cases where older stocks with VZ24 type side-swivels were used, the side-mounted hardware was removed and the holes plugged with dowels. These became known as the Model 24/47.

Dec 13, 2020 · I recently bought a Carcano rifle from Royal Tiger Imports advertised as a "Carcano Carbine Model 1891 TS 6.5X52 Second Model". The rifle is dated 1917 and made by Brescia. The rifle has both sling type configurations and the nose cap is configured to use the standard 1891 rifle bayonet instead of the side mounted type.

Nov 26, 2017 · Bayonets removed on Carcanos have nothing to do with presidential orders. It has everything to do with the people using them. Much like how many SKS have had there bayonets removed it is the same for the Carcano cavalry carbines. The model would be a M38 Cavalry Carbine made at Gardone in 1940 (*** meaning Fabbrica d'Army Gardone).
