Oct 21, 2015 · All of the 04-07 JDM SG9 STI Foresters are EJ255. Which is a 2.5L engine. The 9 in SG designates that it is a 2.5L turbo motor. SG9 = 2.5L (turbo engine - XT) SG5 = 2.0L (turbo engine - XT) So all USDM 2.5L turbo foresters from 03-08 are SG9 designation.

Jan 7, 2006 · For the Forester SG (with or without facelift) we have only the SG5 and SG9, where the 5 refers to the 2.0 and the 9 to the 2.5 engines. The pre-facelift version was only sold as 2.0 n/a, 2.0 turbo and 2.5 turbo. The 2.5 n/a was only available in the SG with facelift (2005-2008). I have never seen a SG6 as legal European version.
