It's worth pointing out that there is another origin in the short story Once, But Not Now, where SCP-106 is mostly natural, part of a species that preyed on humanity for millennia. Now he is the last of his kind, and slowly starving to death because he is old, decrepit, and the effort it takes to get out of his containment cell is too much for ...
Is it Possible to Kill SCP-106, 096 or 682? : r/SCP - Reddit
I wrote a tale where two of those were killed. Killing a Leviathan is all a matter of overcoming its regen abilities (or directly attacking its soul - the regeneration is a trait of hatchlings, adults are just plain resistant) - eating a batch of Rotting Ones (is, 106es) will certainly kill it.

So, how did the foundation find SCP-106 : r/SCP - Reddit
Aug 2, 2019 · In the tale The Young Man, it's implied that SCP-106 was originally a demented soldier in World War One who upon finding a pool of acid (hinted at being SCP-106's corrosive acid) in an abandoned German trench. Apr 24, 2021 · Look at what happened when the GOC tried to destroy SCP-1609. Besides that, setting off nukes isn't easy to hide from the public, and probably would do more damage than good even if the entity were destroyed. Bottom line is, they have a perfectly good way of containing SCP-106, and that's all the Foundation want.

I read your comment saying he pops up even when you need to hide like from the lizard dogs. First thing you need to realise is that Larry (106) doesn't show up in rapid succession and that the basements aren't mandatory, there are (to my knowledge) work arounds.
