Modeling of composite floor in SAP2000 - Eng-Tips
May 30, 2018 · As a material I've chosen concrete C30/37 defined in Materials (I'll attach my model in SAP2000 at the end of the post). This concrete's Weight per Unit Volume is defined as 0, because I've assigned all gravity loads, including dead load as Uniform Load(Shell to Frames)to my Area Section (slab).
Does SAP 2000 Design for Torsion - Eng-Tips
Mar 31, 2003 · As you probably know, torsion is always accounted for in analysis. For design, torsional strength and allowable torsional strength is automatically determined only for closed sections like pipes and tubes.. and that design check started in the newer steel design codes as I recall..I think starting with AISC 13th.
Section Cut - Computers and Structures: SAP2000 - Eng-Tips
Feb 28, 2016 · 2 - SAP2000 allows to perform the integration from either side, positive or negative. The results shouldn't be too different. 3 - Not with this tool, at least directly. You can try working on the xy plane and changing the coordinates manually on the import files
Shell Element Modeling - Computers and Structures: SAP2000
Feb 24, 2014 · By default, SAP2000 shell element (membrane has different default and behavior) will transfer shear and moments at corner locations. So if you model the floor as one giant 4 node rectangle, it would transfer load only at the 4 corner joints.
Connection and meshing - Computers and Structures: SAP2000
Sep 17, 2014 · Hello, I am currently doing an internship, where I am asked to used SAP2000 V16 to make a simple container, put some loads and get results. I am not really getting on how the connection between frame and shell elements are made. I have been searching on the web, readng manuals and CSI...
Distributed loading on shells - Computers and Structures: SAP2000
Oct 30, 2014 · I have a 64mm thick wall and I have come up with the load that it will have to withstand, 40.15 kN/m on the top of the wall. I have used the distributed load tool but I later read that it is supposed to be in force/area units, so I figures I had to divide my linear distributed load by 0.064m to come up with the load to enter on SAP2000.
Design for Shear V13, V23 or Vmax of Shell 2 - Eng-Tips
Dec 16, 2005 · If you mesh you shells, SAP2000 integrates not only forces, but moments are integrated as well. A section cut combines forces and moments at a point, not along the length of an element. I may be mistaken, but what you seem to be looking for is not a section cut, but a moment diagram for a shell element, kind of like the moment diagram results ...
Open older version files in a later version 1 - Eng-Tips
Jun 23, 2011 · And well, a whole field of investigation could start frome here for just the kind of structure, plus, upon deeper knowledge of SAP2000, what SAP2000 can do with it. I think it can do a nice dynamical analysis, chain-like but geometrically non linear and large deflection, and then see how the shape would be moving from where it started.
SAP2000 Keyboard Shortcuts / Keystrokes - Eng-Tips
Jul 22, 2011 · Hello, Does anyone know keystrokes or keyboard shortcuts to do certain tasks in SAP2000? I use SAP quite a bit and I would like to speed up basic tasks. Things I am interested in having keystrokes for that don't seem to have any: - Toggle between hide/show grid lines - Keystroke to hold for...
Modelling a filled metal deck in SAP2000. - Eng-Tips
Apr 12, 2020 · I've been trying to understand how to model a filled metal deck on top of a steel beam in SAP2000. I've learned that to ensure composite action, the filled metal deck must be modeled directly above the steel section by using insertion points. However, I'm still confused on how to model the concrete-filled metal deck itself.
