Mar 30, 2017 · 10W 40 is the same viscosity as the 10 W oil it is based on so when cold puts very little load on the starter thus it starts faster & easier. This is one of the reasons why Honda engines start so easily. However 10W oil is a lot thinner than 30W oil when cold so if there are any places with a bit of wear the 10 W-40 will leak more than the 30 W.
Best Oil To Use For Kawasaki - Lawn Mower Forum
Sep 21, 2012 · Kawasaki and Kohler oil are made by the same process so basically the same. That's the oil I use in my shop in "ALL" 4 stoke lawnmowers that come in for repairs. 30 WT for L-head (flat head) and 10w30 for overhead valve unless it says different. Learned about the Zink in Kawasaki Engine school. But as was posted above, ANY OIL is better then none.
OK to use SAE30 instead of 10W30? - Lawn Mower Forum
Oct 16, 2016 · Nothing wrong with SAE 30. I use it all the time when I service a mowers in my shop unless the customer calls for something else. I would want to use the SAE 30 over the non-detergent 30. I have used the non-detergent 30 in my camp mow but it gets run a very few hours between oil changes.
4 cycle oil - Lawn Mower Forum
May 22, 2022 · A SAE 30 weight oil does not have additives that artificially change its behavior with temperature.. Hence SAE 30 would be thicker when cold than 5W-30 or 10W-30. All would behave similar when hot until the additives weaken. A 5W-30 oil would act like a SAE 5 oil when cold and pour easier than SAE 30, but behave like a SAE 30 oil when hot.
It is Safe to Use a Synthetic 5W-30 in 4-cycle Mower Engines!
Jan 3, 2017 · Yes by all means use the 5W-30 and your own choice of oil. No one agrees on oil anyways. The reason I use the full synthetic 0W-40 in the winter time is my snow removal equipment sits out in a non heated building and I find it starts with a lot less effort on the really cold days and nothing to do with loose tolerances.

Can't find 30W oil anywhere in my area, or on line.
Sep 5, 2023 · None of the links provided go to a "30W" oil, no matter Amazon's ignorant description writers often say so. Look at the product pictures "SAE 30" no W. Sometimes "30WT". There is "30 weight" oil, which is significantly different from a winter rated 30W oil. Nothing wrong with Walmart Super Tech oils.
