With the inclusion of DTS X / ATMOS, the likes of Dolby PLII etc are gone. Make sure it has what you want before pulling the trigger. There is a component output on the RX-V681 this year too...

Mar 5, 2009 · It is absolutely coming from the RX-V681 amp. It does it regardless of any components or speakers being connected, and volume setting doesn't matter. My online research says it might be the transformer, or lamination rattle from the transformer as heat definitely plays a part as it doesn't start until the unit warms up.

May 18, 2009 · Will hook up everything as is to RX-V681 and supplement with a media player. But Yamaha is likely going on sale soon. Will look update to HDMI 2.1 capable AVR like Denon 760H or 1700H Surprisingly Yamaha doesn't have any... Now to look for meda player that has LAN, supports high bandwith audio and HDR10+ and Android where I can install apps.
