Mar 3, 2018 · Following the formation of the Ulster Police in 1922 - to be known as the Royal Ulster Constabulary - the question of a new cap badge design was considered. The RIC pattern badge, that of a Crowned Harp, was taken into use from day one of the new force, but various pattern badges were developed and trialled during the period 1922-1925.

This represented a considerable cost saving to the Northern Government and RUC barracks continued with RIC Station Badges until the 1930s and the introduction of the RUC Station Lamps.

Mar 17, 2025 · This set includes a cap badge and two collar badges from the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC). The RUC was the police force in Northern Ireland from its establishment in June 1922 until it was replaced by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) in 2001.

On the 4th November 2001, the RUC became the Police Service of Northern Ireland. A month later, the Policing Board agreed on a new badge featuring Saint Patrick's Cross surrounded by six symbols: a harp, crown, shamrock, laurel leaf, torch and the scales of justice.
