Rock Punchers are slow moving, aggressive crustacean-like creatures. They move along the sea floor until approached by the player. At such a time, they will begin following the player, and will even occasionally jump at the player if they swim too close. They can be distracted by Rockgrubs, which are their main prey.

The Rock Puncher was to originally appear as a creature that would punch into rocks and terrain using its large appendages that closely resemble boxing gloves. It has six legs and could walk in all directions. The Rockgrub was originally referenced as a Rock Puncher Larva, then Rock Puncher Food, before finally keeping it as Rockgrub. Gallery []

May 4, 2021 · Rock Punchers can sometimes see and punch you through the walls so grow shrubnuts for healing. Gather the rocks from below, through the gaps between the building legs. This way the rockpunchers won't jump UP to attack you, and the building may even protect you.

May 21, 2024 · The Rock puncher is a large lobster like creature that lives in Sector Zero of 4546B. It patrols the seafloor, tapping the ground with its front arms. It eats rockgrubs, and lifts them from the ground when they find them by tapping.

Aug 18, 2015 · I was hoping to take a glimpse at all the recent creatures they made maybe like the warper, the sea dragon or the crab squid, rock puncher... but they're not merge to main yet. However it seems crab snake and electric eel are being merged already so the code for them must be there somehow?

Rock Punchers can be observed tapping the seafloor with their forelimbs, testing the ground for any potential Rockgrubs. If the Rock Puncher finds any, it will repeatedly punch the ground to unearth a rock covered in Rockgrubs, and will proceed to pick it up and feed off of the rock.

The Rock Puncher is a large, aggressive species of fauna from Subnautica: Below Zero with large hardened chitin claws that it can thrust forward at close to the speed of sound to break rock and bone alike.
