The 82,000 square foot facility will repair and overhaul transmissions, rotating controls, rotor hubs, gearboxes, and rotor blades, as well as coordinate 2nd tier supplier repairs for all of Bell's U.S. military platforms.

The AH-1T+ demonstrator and AH-1W prototype were later tested with a new experimental composite four-blade main rotor system. The new configuration offered better performance, reduced noise, and improved battle damage tolerance.

It was decided to develop a more powerful versione of the AH-1T then in use. 179 new AH-1W Super Cobra were built together to the upgrading of 43 AH-1T to the new standard. The AH-1W had the capability to carry and fire AIM-9 Sidewinder and AGM-114 Hellfire missiles (mocks shown in this photograph).
