Castle Roche (Irish: Dún Gall) is a Norman castle located some 10 km (7 miles) north-west of Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland. It was the seat of the de Verdun family (also spelt de Verdon ), who built the castle in 1236 AD.

We know that by 1642 the castle had fallen into ruin because at that time Richard Bellew had obtained a grant to repair it. The castle finally lay in ruin after being attacked by Cromwellian forces in 1641. We hope to call back again on a more pleasant day for more photographs.
