RIE ® Mission. We teach an integrated model for the care and education of infants and the very young using Magda Gerber’s respectful Educaring ® Approach. RIE Vision

RIE is an approach to caring for babies from birth to two years old. Based in developmental science, education, and humanism, we have much in common with other educational philosophies, human rights, and social movements.

RIE ® ‘s educational approach is referred to as Educaring, and summarized as follows: The infant needs an intimate, stable relationship with at least one primary person (e.g., a parent figure). This relationship is best developed during caregiving activities.

Upon completion of our multi-year program, you will join a thriving community of respected and professional RIE Associates offering worldwide classes, consulting, and coaching. RIE Associates are experts in the Educaring Approach.

RIE Associates are a fantastic first point of contact when seeking to learn more about Educaring and when you are looking for experts to help you care for infants and toddlers in ways that have come to be soundly supported by decades of research.

The RIE Conference is our annual gathering of community from around the globe – parents, nannies, childcare providers, aligned professionals and policymakers – all passionate about improving the quality of infant care and deepening our understanding of the current science on infants and toddlers, caregiving, relationships and Educaring.

RIE parents talk to their babies from birth on as though they will understand, not only the tone, but also the content of the message. Equally important in the RIE philosophy is the idea that infants are/can be competent individuals, capable of confronting and resolving age-appropriate dilemmas.

RIE Parent-Infant Guidance Classes meet once a week for 90 minutes, and are typically available most days of the week. Classes are available for babies 3 months – 2 years. For class schedules and pricing, contact individual facilitators listed below.
