On Mondays at 8:30pm and Tuesdays at 7:00pm in the Gladu Band Hall by Rice Stadium, and weekly field rehearsals on Thursdays at 7:00pm. No pressure to attend every rehearsal — just show up when you can!

The Rice Owl Band was formed by 12 students in 1916 and was built upon interest in band activities and the reading of band literature. The band increased to about 50 members when Lee Chatham became director in 1922.

The Rice University band, besieged inside Rice Stadium last Saturday by irate Aggies who took offense to Rice's halftime show, issued an apology to Texas A&M's band Monday.

The Marching Owl Band (aka The MOB or the Blues Band of South Main) is the Rice University “marching band” in the sense that it is the official ensemble that performs during football games, some basketball games, parades, and other public events.
