When Maori Marsden was born on 10 August 1924, in Eden Terrace, Auckland, New Zealand, his father, Hoani Matenga Paerata, was 60 and his mother, Hana Toi Taurau Matenga Paerata, was 42. He died on 18 June 1993, in Te Kōpuru, Kaipara, New Zealand, at the age of 68, and was buried in Kaitāia, Far North, New Zealand.
