Oh I don't care personally, but in this instance I care because as someone who wants to participate in discussions on r/television, any reality show suggestions or discussions are immediately shot down and thrown away. Whole threads about reality tv are downvoted... hell, this thread alone can't even break 5 upvotes, it's been stuck at 0 ever ...

A reality TV series cannot be a self-produced series first posted on YouTube! The series cannot be user-generated or amateur(ish) either!

Reality television isn't really that appealing to people, it's just extremely, comically, insanely cheap to make compared to dramatic or story-driven shows. The people involved have no skill or ability beyond being recognizable to people in grocery store checkout lines, and thus are completely replaceable and inexpensive.

Some people will argue differently but IMO start from the beginning, it’s a fascinating time capsule and fun to watch the gameplay and production develop. It set the template for a lot of reality TV. Drag Race, Project Runway I’ve also enjoyed.

They are first created by the story producer ( writer ) and contain the typical columns of audio and visual with an added column of timecode. This makes it easy for the editor to place VO, etc. When a cut is due to the network, the script is 'conformed to picture'.
