Its written down in OPORD format so there is a audit-able record of how the range was organized and served as a quick check that everything that needed to be done correctly was done.

Ensure your ammo NCO is intelligent/capable of tracking the ammo YOU are responsible for. Have an NCO with a hotspot and computer in your range tower inputting scores directly into DTMS.

My Section Leader tells me he needs help on writing an OPORD. In my head, I thought the OIC is supposed to be the one creating the OPORD to give guidance to all people responsible in making the range happen.

Dec 14, 2014 · In school - no. We've seen simple shells of OPORDS for lanes, and a few company OPORDS, but haven't been given an example of a platoon OPORD for a range day. It's pretty different from a lane, and they haven't given us any examples. They gave us the Company OPORD for the range, and I'm flipping it to PLT, but I'm not sure if I've missed anything.
