Sep 25, 2024 · In a rear-end collision you do not want the airbags to deploy. What would be the purpose? Your body's inertia pushes you back into your seat on impact, not into the steering wheel or dash. The SRS light illuminated because the seatbelt retractors probably fired and locked into place.

Oct 27, 2020 · I haul an 11K 5th wheel which puts close to the max payload of 3K in my bed and it does fine without the bags inflated. I have aftermarket (Firestone) bags that I usually inflate just to stiffen up the hinge between the truck and trailer.
