In the Read Write Inc. Phonics programme, children learn sounds and the letters that represent them, and how to form the letters. Helping your child to spell when writing As well as learning their spelling words, your child will need to remember these spellings and attempt to spell other words when writing.When we can spell well, we can concentrate on what we want to write, rather than how to write it. We are also more likely to use interesting words when we can spell them.

Here are some ideas for encouraging your child to read for pleasure: Set aside a special time – just a few minutes a day is enough to create a reading habit.; Get caught reading yourself – show that reading for pleasure is not just for children.; Read to each other – if your child really doesn’t want to read on their own, then read together.
