What is the difference between RS-232 and RS-232-C?
Jan 29, 2019 · In 1969, the Electronic Industries Association Standards Committee adopted RS-232C as a standard for computer manufacturers. Because this adoption date was so long ago, most manufacturers, including National Instruments, have dropped the "C" from the name and simply refer to the protocol as RS-232.
COM port and RS-232C - Electrical Engineering Stack Exchange
Nov 29, 2016 · I always thought that the COM port on a classic PC implements the RS-232C serial interface. But I just noticed that the COM port is a DB-25, whereas RS-232C only uses 8 or 9 ports, and therefore tends to use DE-9.
