RNLI College in Poole is the home of RNLI training, where willing lifeboat volunteers from across the UK and Ireland are trained to become able crew members. It’s also a hotel, conference venue, and event venue like no other - a home from home for our family of supporters.

Operating from the historic Poole Quay, Poole Lifeboat Station operates two inshore lifeboats: a B class Atlantic 85 and a D class.

Overlooking Poole Harbour on England's south coast, the college welcomes lifeboat crew members and lifeguards from around the UK and Ireland, who visit for training courses and to make use of our training facilities – including a lifeboat bridge simulator and sea survival pool.

Mar 11, 2025 · After five days at sea, the crew of Lerwick lifeboat yesterday reached the RNLI All-Weather Lifeboat Centre in Poole, Dorset where the vessel will undergo a major refit in the coming months.

The RNLI college, home to our lifesaving volunteer crew and lifeguards, is also an award-winning 60-bedroom hotel, restaurant, bar and RNLI shop all fully open to guests and members of the public.

Lifeboats crewed by the people of Poole have been helping those in trouble at sea since 1865. Poole Old Lifeboat Museum documents the history of the RNLI in Poole from that time, right up until the present day.
