At the heart of the RG-35 is a high-performance, rugged armoured all-terrain vehicle in the form of MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protection), designed to provide protection for transporting personnel to and from the front or a platform to transport VIP or as required Accessories.

The RG35 provides the essential balance between firepower, survivability, mobility and cost for modern, conventional and asymmetric operations. Crew survivability is centred around a RG battle-proven “crew citadel” protection system, protecting against mine, IED and ballistic threats. The RG35 vehicle architecture supports multiple missions.

Based on BAE Systems' existing RG range including the RG-31 Nyala, RG-32 Scout and the RG-33, it was intended to be a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle (MRAP) that could offer a high level of protection, high payload capability as well as a high level of cross-country mobility.
