Jun 17, 2015 · I just finished building the Metcalf Mouldings kit "Moonbeam" and took it out for it's inaugural cruise this evening and wanted to share the photos. Very light winds, but the afternoon light made for some great shots.

Moonbeam is a kit from Dave Metcalfe. It makes a classic looking yacht, which sails very well in light winds. However, the rigging has been set up so it is easy to remove the top sail and front jib, so it can be sailed in stronger winds.

Jun 17, 2009 · She is a tad smaller than Moonbeam, but otherwise very similar. She has a keel mounted mast and is gaff rigged as per Moonbeam. She is in need of lots of TLC and I am caught between restoring her just to the Braine steering or to give her a scale appearance with R.C. Of course the Moonbeam deck treatment does appeal or possibly that of a Pilot ...

Mar 2, 2025 · I am currently building a Moonbeam. The design uses a loop sail control system with the winch installed towards the stern of the boat. The control loop runs from the top winch drum rearwards to a pulley attached to the rudder servo mounting, then up to a pulley in the bow and back to the lower winch drum.

Jan 30, 2009 · This is certainly a different subject from Metcalf Mouldings, being a complete kit of a 1913 replica pond yacht named Moonbeam. She is a fairly large model, overall length 52 inches and a beam of 11 inches, with an approximate displacement of 18lb.

From the advertisng leaflet - It is a replica of a 1913 pond yacht, fibreglass hull taken off a yacht that is known to have been sailing on the Round Pond Kensington in early 1913 - probably dates from late 1890's.
