This Google Earth map shows the bunkers at Stp Adolf as they are today, rapidly being swallowed up by time as the sand reclaims the land. Some of the remains are no longer visible as is the case with the VF-MG-Pilz or small machine gun bunkers.

Oct 8, 2008 · 1- According my knowledge of the AW in Belgium, there were only 2 R637's built inside KVA3: 1 in Stp Tirpitz (Raversijde) and 1 in Stp Scharnhorst (Coxyde/Koksijde St-Idelsbad). Some authors mention a R637 in La Panne but I never found some serious evidence to prove it. Sorry Peter, for me, no R637 in Middelkerke.

Covering the beach area are two R612 type casemates for 7.5cm field cannons, both facing towards each other to create a deadly crossfire against anyone landing on the sand in front of the picturesque town. West of the town you can also find a R637 observation and measuring post for pinpointing targets off the coast.

Less than 100m away to the south east of this building you can see the rear wall of an R637 observation and range finding bunker at the edge of a small car park. The bunker is largely covered by trees and sealed up so isn’t accessible, but you can catch a glimpse inside through the front embrasure.
