Jan 16, 2023 · Nanopi r4s is great, well supported, and its rk3399 is FAR MORE powerful compared to my RPI4 (rk3399 is barely equivalent to my Celeron j4105). Handling Gb routing + sqm is easily achievable with r4s, and you have plenty of memory and power left to make it run several applications (like mail server, wireguard, docker images, ...).

Apr 24, 2023 · Best setup I'd say is a 3 device combo: the NanoPi R4S (running OpenWrt for routing, firewall, dhcp, sqm, usb 3.0 nas with samba, adblock, docker, vpn, etc., whatever software you want), a Gigabit switch, and a wifi 6 access point like the U6-Lite.

The R4S appears to have a bit more processing power due to the dual CPUs (although the Pi 4's is newer?) and the Raspberry has the potential for more RAM in the highest configuration, but is anything beyond 4 GiB helpful?

Mar 9, 2020 · R4s are ok on the lawn if it isn't to wet. R1s have much better traction in soft dirt. I'm in the process of changing one of my tractors from R1 ag tires to turf tires. Why? Because the R1s shake your teeth out and provide poor traction for snow removal operations.
