The group is known for its confrontational tactics, its slogans, and the practice of outing. [2]

In the 1990s, a group of four ACT UP activists faced with an increasingly homophobic world decided to create an organization called Queer Nation. They used radical guerilla marketing tactics to increase queer visibility & shift cultural norms about the queer community.

Founded in the early 90s, QUEER NATION was a spin-off from ACT-UP focused on combatting homophobia and violence while promoting queer visibility. After current events such as the attempted legislation of hundreds of anti-queer laws and the shooting in Orlando where our Latinx brothers and sisters were killed, it is time to bring back Queer Nation.

Advancing the liberty, safety, and equality of queer people through education, messaging, and support for the most vulnerable queer people across the United States. Promoting queer voices, fight hate and misinformation, uplift queer people, and unite queer allies for a more tolerant future.
