2TB NVME QLC SSD for gaming? - [H]ard|Forum
Feb 1, 2005 · As long as the speeds are high, within the PCIe3 constrains, it seems like TLC or QLC won't matter for me, since the only writing I'd do is the actual games being installed and then any occasional small Word/Excel files I'm working on regularly.
QLC versus TLC? | [H]ard|Forum
May 8, 2023 · QLC has drastically reduced write endurance vs TLC. I'd never, ever use one for a C: drive with a page file. If you're not writing a lot to it, and just reading - you'll be fine unless the manufacturer is crap.
Real Experience with QLC, TLC, MLC? | [H]ard|Forum
Sep 17, 2019 · The only downside is the QLC NAND, which might just be another hyped situation because there were a few crappy models on the market once upon a time. If anyone has some real experience or thoughts with QLC durability/reliability, post here.
Sabrent Rocket M.2 2TB PCIe Gen4 QLC performance
Apr 14, 2010 · NAND flash is made up of cells, and QLC stores 4 bits per each cell, where TLC stores 3 bits and MLC stores 2, SLC stores 1. The reason QLC has lower endurance and slower write speed is because if you need to change the contents of a 4-bit cell, you have to write the whole 4-bits, even if the amount of data that is changing is just 1 of the 4 bits.
Enterprise SSD's are now TLC??? - [H]ard|Forum
Oct 29, 2000 · Now TLC is the most common in the consumer space, and has been for a while, with enterprise drives being MLC. Sure, QLC exists, but IMHO it's barely good enough for heavy consumer use, and I wouldn't have expected TLC to be good enough for demanding Enterprise applications quite yet (or maybe even ever) Is that really where we are now?
How is it possible that TLC gets more endurance than MLC
Oct 5, 2011 · TLC drives usually have a large SLC and/or DRAM cache and newer SSD controllers have become very good at utilizing that cache and evening out wear on the TLC. With that said, these endurance figures are borderline arbitrary, and likely more defined by warranty concerns than the technical limitations of the drive. A drive can easily exceed it's endurance rating. If you fill your drive, that ...
Trust Newegg reviews for NVMe SSD? - [H]ard|Forum
Mar 27, 2024 · My IT guys Work did multiple head to head comparisions of mid-tier drives with & without dram, and QLC vs TLC back when Gen 4 drives first came out....and over a 30day period, they calculated that the slower bargin-level drives, while saving a few $ on the front end, would have cost us mucho-megabucks in the long run....
Unsavory Flash Swap: Re-Testing Crucial’s P2 SSD After QLC …
Aug 16, 2004 · Crucial’s P2 wasn’t much of a contender for the title of the Best SSD when it first launched, but now it’s firmly on our do not recommend list. Recently, Crucial decided to swap out the P2’s TLC flash with slower and less-endurant QLC flash, making the new P2 much worse than the original version. For instance, the QLC version of the drive is …
How do you know if an SSD is "DRAM-Less"? | [H]ard|Forum
Mar 13, 2023 · Not clicking through a bunch of links for which you couldn't bother to type out the product names. I know that the Samsung 870 Evo and Crucial MX500 have a DRAM cache and TLC NAND. The 870 QVO uses QLC NAND, so should be avoided for an OS/app volume. Is your system not recent enough to utilize a m.2 NVMe SSD for OS/apps?

Sep 17, 2019 · There's also physical density which often confuses people: most consumer TLC today is 256Gb/die while the most common QLC is 1Tb/die, or four times as much. So QLC holds 33% more than TLC per cell (4-bit vs. 3-bit), twice the voltage states (16 vs. 8), has about one-third the endurance (1K vs. 3K P/E), and is four times as dense (1Tb vs. 256Gb).
