Pyongan Province (Korean: 평안도; Hanja: 平安道; IPA: [pʰjʌŋando]) was one of Eight Provinces of Korea during the Joseon dynasty. Pyongan was located in the northwest of Korea. The provincial capital was Pyongyang.

Pyongan is one of eight historic provinces of Korea, formed during the Joseon Dynasty in the 15th century. The name is derived from the then two principal cities of the region; Pyon gyang and An ju. It runs along Korea Bay in the Yellow Sea, from the North Korean capital in the south, to the Chinese border in the north.

The Pyongan dialect (Korean: 평안도 사투리; MR: p'yŏngando sat'uri), alternatively Northwestern Korean (Korean: 서북 방언; Hancha: 西北方言; MR: sŏbuk pangŏn), is the Korean dialect of the Northwestern Korean Peninsula and neighboring parts of China.

South Pyongan Province (Korean: 평안남도; MR: Phyŏngannamdo; IPA: [pʰjʌŋanːamdo]) is a province of North Korea. The province was formed in 1896 from the southern half of the former Pyongan Province, remained a province of Korea until 1945, then became a province of North Korea. Its capital is Pyongsong.
