If that is the case, then it is not currently feasible for the average developer to get the PuTTY GUI on the Mac OS Catalina v10.15.7. No need to respond if this is correct, just want to clarify.

But my Windows OS doesn't lose its connection at all. And yes, we're talking about them being connected at the same time. Have looked in Mac's preferences but I can't find any stay alive type ...

Jun 21, 2021 · In any case, putty is a Windows tool. You don’t need it in a Mac. Just use ssh, which putty was designed to mimic. Unfortunately, MacPorts may have already broken your basic Terminal tools like ssh. That is all too common with these “ports” tools.

That's a Mac app. To run PuTTy under Windows you'd have to launch the Windows virtualization software (e.g. Parallels) then run PuTTy within that, or reboot your MBP into Windows with Boot Camp; or, launch the X11 environment and open PuTTy from within that environment.

To my knowledge, the telnet client for Mac OS X does not support either method. PuTTY does. You might try SSL Enabler which uses stunnel to create encrypted sessions. Interesting that the port in use here is 2002. Dangerous port to have open.
