Help- Deciding on a new boat- Never knew it'd be this tough
Oct 14, 2019 · A gatortail, gatortrax, prodrive, prodigy, uncle J, deadfowl, and maybe one or two others make boats built to perform well and last a very long time. You pay more but you won't have a boat that looks like crumpled paper after a year and can't haul a buddy with you.
Best dual purpose rig- hunting and fishing | Duck Hunting Forum
Feb 9, 2015 · The second option would be a 1754 or 1854 mud boat custom built by Prodigy boats with a Gator Tail mud motor. This would obviously be the best choice for duck hunting, but I'm afraid would be the worst choice for fishing.

What size motor are you running on an 1860? | Page 2 - Duck …
Jan 9, 2018 · A lot of it is because it has multiple longitudinal stringers and better/thicker aluminum so it isn't like a normal run of the mill aluminum hull. Essentially all the gatortail, prodrive, prodigy, etc boats are designed the same and probably respond similarly. It hunts well and fishes well, but doesn't handle chop well.

Boat Shopping | Duck Hunting Forum
Jan 9, 2025 · Been boatless for quite a few years now. Looking to get a new boat for hunting & fishing again. Mostly would be used in rivers, lakes, and occasionally in brackish marshes & sounds. I’ve always liked the idea of a mud motor boat setup but not sure if I’ll be willing to hunt ducks as hard as I...
Flat Bottom & Mudmotors - Duck Hunting Forum
Jan 5, 2019 · As for hulls, pairing the hull and motor is very important for a SD (see posts above) but a hull from Gator Tail, Gator Trax, Prodrive, Prodigy, and Uncle J would be my most recommended but there are other good ones as well. All will run well with an outboard as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
1448 SeaArk & Copperhead 23 hp - Duck Hunting Forum
Jan 25, 2017 · It helped on my other boat which is a 1448 riveted jon with a 12 hp copperhead. That boat pushes out ok as well. The ribs on the bottom of both hulls do make it a little tougher to push sideways, but when it comes to turning on the mud, it grips and goes. My buddy has a prodigy that slid way too much on the mud. Ended up on an oyster bed.
Hull thickness - .100" or .125"? - Duck Hunting Forum
Dec 11, 2017 · Don't hunt many stump fields so curious as to thoughts on whether a .125" hull out of 5086 is needed or if a .100" made from 5052 is sufficient for breaking 1" or less ice. Many boats out there with the .100 hulls but would likely have to go new to find the heavier .125" - …
