May 4, 2016 · In a car with an automatic transmission, we are normally greeted by the acronym PRNDL, or in some cases (older cars) PRND21. I know that the L, 1, or 2 will cause the transmission to stay in a (L)ow gear and not upshift, but I've heard various explanations of what the low gears are for.

Jun 21, 2017 · As per the other answers, it is called the gear lever, selector, knob, etc... If you are trying to find the name of the manual shifting in automatic, then the portmanteau term is "Manumatic".

I reluctantly shut off the engine and tried to start it but noticed it didn't have the PRNDL indicator any longer on my dash and it did not start. The shifter still goes through the shift sequence on the middle dash but car doesn't go into gear nor does it register any gear on my dash which may be why it won't start

Nov 28, 2023 · The car was fine when parked for lunch when leaving car started but shifter was stift. Forced car. Into drive PRNDL LIGHTS disappeared shifter then seemed loose. I put it back into "park" I then turned off my car tried to start it again, wouldn't start. PLEASE HELP ME!!

Jul 2, 2009 · Hi, I have a 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with the digital instrument panel. The panel needs to be repaired, and in the process of pulling it out, I am stuck trying to figure out how to properly disconnect the PRNDL drive shift indicator cable from the cluster. I need help because I don't want to break anything.

Jun 16, 2009 · The PRNDL is in good shape and I have removed it and it looks like it will fit into another gauge if I cut the window in it. The Speedo that was listed on Ebay is missing a needle, which may not be that big of a deal but I would like to get one that is good and ready to go.
