May 2, 2022 · If done right, you will have a "poor man's slug". The crimped end of the shell will not open, therefore causing the cut part of the shell to effectively become a "slug" as it stays intact.

Final product: To load into shell: shot is poured into the blunt end hole of the slug (To stop the wad from being forced into the space by the firing pressure.) and covered with a cardboard wads, then placed inside the shell.

Sep 17, 2012 · Cut shells have been described as 'poor man's slugs'. Basically -- correct me if I am wrong -- by cutting a shell partly in half, it will cause the front half to separate and travel as a single projectile and so cause nice big holes at a distance as opposed to scatter shot.
