Role of Pirin, an Oxidative Stress Sensor Protein, in Epithelial ...
Here we summarize the biological functions of Pirin in relation to its role in cancer, suggesting that Pirin is a potential therapeutic target. Pirin is an oxidative stress (OS) sensor belonging to the functionally diverse cupin superfamily of proteins.
Pirin National Park - Wikipedia
Pirin National Park (Bulgarian: Национален парк "Пирин"), originally named Vihren National Park, covering the larger part of the Pirin Mountains in southwestern Bulgaria, spanning an area of 403.56 square kilometers (155.82 sq mi).
Pirin, an Nrf2-Regulated Protein, Is Overexpressed in Human
Jan 28, 2022 · Using pharmacologic and genetic approaches to either downregulate or upregulate Nrf2, we show that pirin is regulated by Nrf2 in human and mouse cells and in the mouse colon in vivo.
Pirin is an iron-dependent redox regulator of NF-κB | PNAS
May 28, 2013 · Pirin is a nuclear nonheme Fe protein of unknown function present in all human tissues. Here we describe that pirin may act as a redox sensor for the nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) transcription factor,...
Pirin, an Nrf2-Regulated Protein, Is Overexpressed in Human …
The evolutionary conserved non-heme Fe-containing protein pirin has been implicated as an important factor in cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and tumour progression of melanoma, breast, lung, cervical, prostate, and oral cancers. Here we ...
Pirin is a nuclear redox-sensitive modulator of autophagy …
Jan 15, 2021 · PIR is a nuclear redox sensor and regulator, and increasing it limits the oxidative damage of DNA and the subsequent cytoplasmic transport and extracellular release of HMGB1. In contrast, the depletion of PIR initiates HMGB1-dependent autophagy by binding to BECN1, and subsequently promotes ferroptosis by activating ACSL4.
Crystal Structure of Human Pirin: AN IRON-BINDING NUCLEAR …
Jan 9, 2004 · Pirin is a newly identified nuclear protein that interacts with the oncoprotein B-cell lymphoma 3-encoded (Bcl-3) and nuclear factor I (NFI). The crystal structure of human Pirin at 2.1-Å resolution shows it to be a member of the functionally diverse cupin superfamily.
