Ping iron experts- G5 vs later models up thru G25 - GolfWRX
Mar 28, 2016 · I wouldn't say the G5 are inferior. The sole width of the G series did seem to get a little bit larger after the G5 (peaking at around the G20). So depending on your swing type you may find the later G irons more forgiving than the G5. I know golfers who swear the G5 and G10 were the best iron sets ping ever released.
irons: Ping G5 vs new Ping G - Equipment - GolfWRX
Feb 24, 2016 · All other things equal, you'll hit the G irons higher and straighter than the G5's. I won't get into the distance issue because the change in lofts makes that a minefield. But whatever you are hitting 150 will get there on a higher trajectory with tighter dispersion than with the G5's.
Ping G5 Irons: has technology advanced enough to upgrade?
Dec 17, 2017 · The G5/i5 split was really sort of the beginning of what Ping still does, with a pretty clear distinction between two sets. There had been some of that with the i3 blade and O-size, but the G5/i5 sets were much more clearly different IMO.
Ping G2 vs Ping G5 irons - Equipment - GolfWRX
Oct 8, 2006 · The G5 is a bit more forgiving especially in the long irons. What I have done is use a mixed set...3 iron to 6 iron are G5's...7 iron to PW are G2's. Wedges are I wedges. I have been told that the G2 is still in high demand from Ping even though they have moved on to newer models. Hope this helps.... Bob 5 hdcp.
Worth it to upgrade from Ping G5 to Ping G irons? - GolfWRX
Sep 3, 2018 · The newer G irons are a COMPLETELY different animal than the G5. The change will take some adjustment since the G and G400 are hot faced stronger lofted irons when compared to the G5. If you play well with the G5 irons, there is nothing wrong with sticking with them. if you switch, you will most likely have to adjust to the distance change.

Apr 6, 2013 · The G5's are good, but are NOT the best game improvement irons that Ping has made; that got better, IMO, with the G10's and thereafter. They are good irons, but unless you especially want a mixed set like I mention above and can get a great price on them, I'd be hesitant to recommend them.
Ping G5/G10/G15/G20 irons. Really much difference? - GolfWRX
Aug 16, 2011 · Not bashing the newer irons, I'm sure that badge helps damp vibration on mishits, but overall the G10 are pretty soft feeling irons anyway so the badge is a luxury item that drives up the cost. Quote Ping G400 Max driver w/Aldila Rogue 125 Silver
Ping G5 vs. i5 - Equipment - GolfWRX
Sep 23, 2006 · I know the i5 has less offset, smaller head, etc, but both irons are listed in the game improvement section of Feb Golf Digest Hot List. I am a 17.6 handicap and I don't like the look of the G5, wide sole, large offset, but just looking at the irons on the rack I really love the look of the i5's much better but I do want forgiveness also.
Ping G5 Irons worth reshafting? - WRX Club Techs - GolfWRX
Jul 7, 2019 · 1. The G5 was NOT Ping's best work, and beginning with the G10, Ping moved weight out to the toe to reduce hooking issues. The i5 is a classic, still one of the best all-around irons any OEM has ever produced; the G5 had hooking issues that make many, many other Ping G series irons a better option.
