This yellow prototype glider (OH-425) can be seen in movie named "Zulu Romeo - Good start" about this 1974 World Gliding Championship. The glider was then produced at the rate of two to three per week.

The PIK-20 is a Standard Class sailplane designed at the Helsinki University of Technology by Pekka Tammi, with advice from Ilkka Rantasalo and Raimo Nurminen. The prototype first flew in October 1973. It was produced initially by Molino Oy who were taken over by Eiri-Avion Oy (Currently Eirikuva Oy between 1974 and 1980.

I have a PIK-20B, they are a great glider and about the best bang for the buck you can get. Meaning, good performance and usually pretty cheap. The D model is good, you have SH style spoilers which makes them easier to learn than the flap only models.

It’s a 24’ steerable canopy, serial number 7722-S. It’s out of pack about a year. It has a wool backpad, an inflatable bladder for back support and a small emergency kit on one of the shoulder straps. More about the chute later.

The Pik 20 (or to give it it's full name the "Polyteknikkojen Ilmailukerho 20" - yes really!) is an aquired taste. Looking like a Guppy and being more senstive to bugs than a Venus fly trap, the PIK 20 offers low cost 15m flapped performance (until it rains).

finally narrowed my search to 2 gliders. I am aware of the following on each glider: Jantar - Visibility during tow, and tight cockpit (I am 5'10' 148 lbs so I fit ok). Pik 20D - Thick wing mold, parts support, and flaps. I am a low time glider pilot (27 hours), private pilot (180 hours) and a high time hang glider pilot (560 hours).

PIK 20D added conventional Schempp-Hirth airbrakes, carbon reinforcement strips at critical locations in the fuselage, the nose profile was sharpened, the tail-plane was moved forward and fuselage fairings recontoured to reduce drag.
