The advanced volumetric approaches are reviewed briefly to state the stress/strain-based or energy-based parameters of fatigue damage region are critical. A new approach is proposed to distinguish crack initiation and propagation stage.

Oct 28, 2023 · The failure behavior and load-carrying capacity of Nomex honeycomb sandwich panels under three-point bending are experimentally and numerically studied. The failure modes observed in experiments are core shear failure and face-sheet/core debonding. A detailed model considering Nomex paper and resin coating is built with Abaqus/explicit simulation.

Aug 20, 2019 · Two methods based on local stress responses are proposed to locate fatigue critical point of metallic notched components under non-proportional loading. The points on the notch edge maintain a state of uniaxial stress even when the far-field fatigue loading is multiaxial.
