Luna and Neville (the emus) ran away, hid in a corner, and would kick if I tried to pet them. After doing more research and asking for advice on an emu Facebook page, I finally decided to let them be.

After a little while curiosity will prevail and she will allow him to pet her and take treats from him. This is her first mating season and since I raised her I think I am her chosen mate. Aug 23, 2012 · Later on the emu farmers here found out that emu oil was also useful,, so it (as well as the leather) became a byproduct of the meat industry. Even though some people do keep them as pets now.. they are still being used as a meat, oil and leather source... (and emu meat is quite delicious!).

Jun 5, 2010 · Yes you can raise them beside each other, as emu chicks do need company. I find that male emu are often more friendly as adults. It would be nice to have more than one, 2 males, 2 females,male & female etc... but if you have other large livestock, dogs etc.. they will have company in them.

The best would be 5-6 ft chain link, or horse fencing. You can use cattle fencing also. 5-6 ft is ideal height. Horse Corral panels work well also, but my one emu knows how to creep under them. 2 of my emu could be kept in 4ft fence, as they are not prone to jumping, 2 …

May 16, 2020 · Hi ..it's a matter of choice really, I certainly not put them together, I have kept and bred rheas since 1992, Emus as soon as the ban was lifted to keep emus in UK, emus are my most precious pets, very affectionate and love cuddles now 13 y.old daily wonderful animals, keep all predators at bay or kill them, fox, rats etc.
