May 23, 2009 · I can confirm that a Pentium D 945 works with a Dell 9150 (bios A07) as I just performed this upgrade with the wife's Dell and am posting this message from it. The windows experience index for the cpu was 4.6 with the initial Pentium D 820 (SL88T). The windows experience index for the CPU is now 5.1 with the new Pentium D 945 (SL9QQ).

CPU-Z reports the following: Intel Pentium D 930 Presler Technology: 65nm Core VID: 1.244 V Bus Speed: 199.5 mhz Rated FSB: 798 mhz Mainboard model: 0HJ054 Chipset: i945P/PL/G/GZ. As I understand it, the motherboard will not take the modern Core 2 / Duo processors because of voltage irregularity.

Feb 27, 2007 · I'm thinking of switching out the Pentium 4 3.6GHz I now have in my XPS 600 and replacing it with a dual core Pentium D 945 3.4GHz. Is this worth doing since the Pentium D is actually clocked a bit slower? I'll be getting a dual core CPU, but both of these CPUs are antiquated.
