The shells are 6 stellar plies of Maple goodness, along with a 45° baring edges, die cast rims, and OptiMount hardware. I'm currently running Evans EC2s as my batters, and and Remo Ambassadors as my resos on my Masters Custom Extra MRX kit.

Apr 2, 2015 · For Pearl Masters Series; MRX, MCX, MSX (Retrospect Wrap) and MRP are 6 plies Maple 7.5mm shells. MPL are 6 thinner Maple plies. BRX, BRP, BSX (wrapped Birch), and BCX are 6 plies of Birch. MHX are 4 Plies Mahogany w/ Maple Re Rings MMX and MMP are 4 plies Maple w/ Re Rings BMX and BMP are 4 plies Birch with Re Rings.

Dec 29, 2011 · I will get a shell pack, so I am not concerned about hardware, snare drums and pedals, just the drums. I havent had a Pearl set for years, and the Vision set I just sold was outstanding and because of my experience has me looking into a Masters MCX. All of my research says this is a great kit and well worth the money.

Apr 8, 2010 · Okay, I want a maple drumkit, but I don't want to spend too much. Both the Vision VMX and Masters MCX are 100% maple, but the Vision is "intermediate" and the Master's is "pro". Realistically, is there going to be much difference? The Vision Series is like 50% cheaper. What would ya'll do?

Aug 10, 2012 · I have a Pearl Masters MCX set (13/16/22). I got the (6.5) snare to match. It's slightly above average while I feel the rest of the kit is far above average. I play alternative rock. The snare has tons of sustain. Usually I use Emporer snare heads. I had to put a Pinstripe on this to cut back the high end sustain.

Dec 13, 2011 · All the drums that you mention are half way up on the manufactures list, except for the Mapex Black Panther, that's a tiny step up from the others in both sound and finish. I've played the Pearl Masters, both the Premium and MCX series and out of Pearls complete line-up of drums, these would be the ones that interest me the most.
