Peachtree Rock Preserve is named for the large sandstone formation shaped like an upside-down pyramid. Diverse plant communities ranging from bogs to xeric sandhill scrub can be found in the preserve, including the federally endangered Rayner's blueberry.

The most famous, Peachtree Rock, looks like a precariously balanced overturned pyramid. Some 20 feet high, it is a remnant from millions of years ago when the Sandhills were the continent’s eastern coastline, which accounts for the largest collection of marine fossils found in the state.
