Two high-resolution, digital cameras were mounted on towers overlooking the beach, dunes, and instrument arrays in the Outer Banks of North Carolina on September 18, 2021, as part of the DUring Nearshore Event eXperiment (DUNEX) project.

The refuge is located on the north end of Hatteras Island, a coastal barrier island and part of a chain of islands known as the Outer Banks, and includes beach, dunes, brackish ponds, and marshes. The bird list for Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge boasts over 370 species.

Sep 29, 2021 · Two video cameras are temporarily mounted on a dune at Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The cameras are imaging the southern DUNEX experiment site and are designed to have a stereo view of the beach and potential overwash path until late October.

The NCDOT has added another Outer Banks traffic web cam on Hatteras Island. This new traffic camera is located south of the temporary bridge in the Pea Island area. The webcam shows Highway 12 traffic and the dunes.
