Also I agree whole heartedly in developing a close relationship to an infusion pharmacist adept at Nutrition- not all pharmacists are.

I was thinking of trying that with the or getting caps for the ton bag when they have to hook and unhook her to get her shirt on or to switch into her pajama's at night.

I preferred the Hickman because it had two lumens, meaning I could run two infusions at the same time. Unfortunately both became infected, a hazard with TPN and I’m looking at my 2nd Hickman.

I’ve tried a G-J tube, but my body would not process any of the three formulas we tried - I looked 3-months pregnant for 24 hours until the liquid dissipated! I’ve also tried TPN without the lipids. May 20, 2012 · All were caused by chemo and radiation from colon cancer treatments 12 years ago. It saved my life. My TPN team consists of two specially trained nurses, a dietician, a nutritionist and my wonderful GI Dr. They are unwilling to 'guess' how long I will be on TPN, but I suspect it will be for a very, very long time. Oct 18, 2009 · Unfortunately, all I have heard about using a port for TPN goes along those same lines - it took just over a month of full time TPN to clog up my daughter's port irreparably - requiring surgery to remove it and place a Broviac. Prior to that, her port had been used daily for hydration (and 2 short courses of TPN) for 15 months.
