The Singers are just what the Parshendi refer to themselves as. "Parshendi" is an Alethi term entirely. Parshmen are Slaveform (and Dullform spy) Singers, but they all belong under that one umbrella. The Listeners are a political/cultural tribe that are introduced in one of Eshonai or Venli's WoR chapters, I believe.

Consider, they completely ignore everything and everyone else to take down one man when he ways pieces of Parshendi carapace as armor. Tactically, it would make a lot of sense to have some Parshendi jump the chasm and cut down the spearmen.

Could also explain the reproductive viability, if Adonalsium didn't make too many changes when he created the Parshendi. As for points 2 and 3, Parshendi break some of the natural rules via Spren Bonds.
