Pan Am Flight 7 was a westbound round-the-world flight operated by Pan American World Airways. On November 8, 1957, the Boeing 377 Stratocruiser 10-29 serving the flight, named Clipper Romance of the Skies, crashed in the Pacific Ocean en route to Honolulu International Airport from San Francisco.

Mar 15, 2025 · American ordered a further 24 of the new variant, but its largest customer was Eastern Air Lines, which ultimately took 49 of the type. A notable new operator of the variant was Pan Am, which used its DC-7Bs for transatlantic service, flying from New York to London nearly 2 hours faster than its Super Stratocruisers.

May 31, 2014 · Pan American started taking delivery of its seven DC-7Bs in May of 1955 and these were deployed in the Atlantic. The aircraft was used primarily in all-tourist or dual first and tourist service on the transatlantic routes.

Pan American Airlines used the DC-7C aircraft to inaugurate the first non-stop New York-London service. Pan Am flew the DC-7Cs for only two and and a half years before entering the jet age. The DC-7 is the largest propeller transport aircraft that Pan Am has ever used. The DC-7C was also used by several other overseas airlines fleets.
