Dec 23, 2023 · Making palm branches is a great way to get preschoolers involved in the story of Palm Sunday. Using green construction paper, have them cut out long, narrow strips and then glue or tape them together to create a longer branch.

This is a fun Palm Sunday craft that works a lot like cutting out paper snowflakes. The fronds end up being large enough that the children can carry them around waving them for a Palm Sunday parade.

These crafts recall the events of Palm Sunday and various aspects of the story. A headband with “palm branches and cloaks” reminds students of the patriotic symbols that people put before Jesus when He came into town. A donkey paper bag puppet visits the peaceful gesture and prophecy fulfillment that riding a donkey represented.

Activities for Kids: Palm Branch Crafts: Have the kids make their own palm branches out of green construction paper. They can cut out the shapes and decorate them with glitter or markers. “Hosanna” Song: Teach the kids a simple song about Palm Sunday, like “Hosanna, Loud Hosanna.” Role-Playing: Act out the story of Jesus’s arrival.
