Milk Pail is my favorite place to pick Apple's on Long Island's south fork. Very friendly staff and a scenic setting in the heart of the Hamptons. There are many varieties of apples. In early September, you will find Granny Smith apples. Keep in mind, traffic on NY-27 is always heavy in and out of the Hamptons, especially on the weekends.
