Jun 4, 2023 · As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, the PlayStation 3 Super Slim models (CECH-3000 and CECH-4000 series) are not compatible with Custom Firmware (CFW). The Super Slim models have additional security measures that make it difficult to install CFW directly.

May 10, 2022 · Another thing I remember is that it's got to do with minimum installable FW: the procedure for CFW installation is to backtrack all the way to 3.55 OFW and THEN install a CFW that's been signed with 3.55 keys. Super Slim models can't go back to 3.55, so there is no way they can install CFW.

If your console is compatible with CFW, you can follow the PS3Xploit tutorial to install a CFW. Alternatively, you can use a hardware flasher to exploit your console. You can follow the E3 Flasher tutorial, Teensy tutorial, or the ProgSkeet tutorial to exploit a slim PS3.

It's very similar to CFW. Some things involve specific settings that won't be available but the biggest difference I've noted so far is playing PS2 games. You either need to copy the iso to the drive or install them as a PKG.
