
PRR MP70 - Wikipedia
The PRR MP70, also known informally as the "double-deckers", was a class of electric multiple units manufactured by the Pennsylvania Railroad for use on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). The Pennsylvania Railroad manufactured three prototypes in the 1930s and a full fleet of sixty cars in 1947–1949.

Here is the PRR MP70, one of the first double decker rail car models to be used in the United States. The cars were built by the Pennsylvania Railroad for use on the LIRR, entering passenger service in 1947 and the last of the cars were retired in 1972.

Built in 1937, MP70 1347, originally a four-motor double-decker intended to operate as a "married pair" with CT70 201 (see photo below). This unit was the only double-decker with four motors and apparently was not given ASC in 1951, becoming a MP70T motor trailer.

Jul 20, 2010 · Well for the Freelanced modeler or the collector that want's something unusual, unique or a special edition, Then a PRR, DL&W/ERIE edition of the MP70s can be done up. Perhaps making the non LI versions as steam/diesel hauled only, OR even with Pantographs for a "what could of been" to boost sales.
