Feb 24, 2023 · In July of 2005, MTH brought out a Premier model of the PRR BB1 "Rats". These were small electric locomotives, run either singly as a B1 or as a twin unit BB1, and were primarily used as yard goats, moving cars hither and yon in the electrified yards of the PRR.

The PRR’s answer was the (6) wheeled B1 class Box Cab Switcher. Capable of shuffling up to (15) cars at a time, the B1’s were powered by (3) traction motors rated at only 233hp each, but they still produced a massive 39,250lb of tractive effort.

Oct 24, 2012 · PRR BB1 #3900 & #3901 (Lionel) Prototype #3900. The BB-1 "rats" were not New York Central engines. They were Pennsylvania. They were produced both by Lionel and MTH. The DD1s were also Pennsylvania prototypes, produced only by MTH. The New York Central Rs have yet to be produced in 3-rail as far as I know.
