Jun 6, 2014 · Not true. You can actually use a PCIe x1 (or x4 or x8) card in a x16 slot. While not applicable in this particular case (what with the mini-ITX board and all that), just keep in mind that if you're currently using any other x16 slots, plugging a x1 device into a second x16 slot will take some of its PCIe lanes away.
